I am a huge fan of outdoor lighting. I love the way it can change a landscape and I like the way that it can shape a yard. I have used outdoor lighting for years but it was just recently that I learned about LED lights. These lights are awesome. Not only are the lights brighter but they last longer and they are super easy to use. I wanted to take a few moments and explain some of my projects that I have used these lights for. I have used LED lights for tree decorations, porch lighting, step lighting, and even decorative concrete curbing.

The first project that I did with these lights was with the front porch. My porch is notoriously dark so I wanted to try something to brighten the steps. The LED lights came in a strip and they were super easy to install. Before long I had a porch that was well lit and it looked really cool. Seeing as how this project went so well, I decided to tackle a few other projects as well. But the best project to date was the curbing.

We decided to install concrete curbing in our yard. This curbing is used to line the flowerbeds and to make nice, clean borders in the yard. In order to make the curbing stand out we decided to install LED lights directly in the concrete. Now the house looks entirely different. Not only is the curbing amazing but the lights really make it stand out. You should really consider adding this to your next project because it makes a huge difference in the look of your home.

Just because you live in an apartment or small house and don’t have access to a large yard, there’s no reason why you can’t grow your own herbs and few fresh vegetables. You simply need to stop thinking that the plants need to grow outdoors. With a little space, some LED grow lights, and window, you’ll be growing your own produce in no time at all.

When selecting the herbs and vegetables you want to grow, you should be aware that some types will be more suited for indoor gardening than others. Even though you might love the idea of growing you own squash, corn, melons, and cucumbers, the way they grow makes them an impractical choice for your living situation. Whenever possible, choose dwarf varieties of the plants.

During the summertime you’ll be able to keep your plants on a window sill and they will get enough light to grow, but once the days start to shorten, you will need to set up some LED growing lights to compensate for the lack of sunlight. Growing lights mimic the sun’s power and by sticking to an LED variety you’ll use less power and keep your energy bills manageable. It’s in your best interest to attach the LCD grow lights to a timer, freeing you from having to constantly having to remind yourself to shut the lights on and off.

Once the weather starts to cool down, you will want to invest in a warmer, which is designed to keep your soil the ideal temperature for the plants, something that’s especially important during the germination stage.

In addition to being a great way to produce your own food, you’ll find tending your plants can be very soothing.

When you purchase a yacht, one of the things you need to be concerned about will be the electricity. The longer your trips away from shore, the more concerning your power situation will become. The reserve power source and the generator will only be able to produce power for a limited period of time. Simple things, like running a conventional light bulb will quickly drain the power.

One way you can save power while on an extended yachting holiday will be turning all the lights off and leaving them off, which really isn’t a practical solution. Another option you may consider will be getting solar lights that gather and store sunlight so you can use them at night. The solar lights aren’t a bad idea, and many people use them, however the cells can only store a limited amount of sunlight, and if you encounter a few gray, rainy days, you could find yourself without any source of lighting.

More and more yachting captains have found LED lights to be the most practical solution for long sea voyages. The LED use very little energy, only 12 volts, and they seem to last forever. You’ll be able to go years before you need to get them replaced. They put very little strain on the back up energy supply.

When choosing LED lights for a yacht, you need to pay attention to the type of light they produce. Most LED lights create a brilliant white light. This will be great for your exterior lights, you’ll see and be seen by near by boats. LED lights with a yellow tint tend to be a better choice for interior lights, where the shade feels more intimate and homey.
